The Third Annual Student Cake Decorating Competition was a great success with the largest turnout yet having 24 contestants. It was equally successful in the number of attendees to the event, as we were joined by the ACF Windy City Chefs Organization. We were all impressed with the quality of work from all the contestants and especially the high school level competitors. I am always amazed at the level of knowledge, passion and creativity that Chef Gloria Hafer imparts to her students. She is truly an inspiration to us all.

We want to extend a special thank you to the entire team of Eli’s Cheesecake for hosting our event. Mark your calendars for next year in May as they have once again graciously invited us back. We also are very thankful for the great support we received from Ms. Diane Kelley of Southern Wine and Spirits and her educational presentation; Mr. Rod Markus for his donation of rare teas, cheeses and specialty items; Ms. Trisha Ranallo of Le Creuset; and Mr. Paul McCauley of KitchenAid.

We welcome all of our members to share their announcements, as well images of their work and establishments. Don’t hesitate to send me an email!

Please stay tuned to this web site as we will soon announce all the details of our upcoming picnic hosted by Eli’s Cheesecake on July 13th.
