On The Wild Side
Cake Contest

Sponsored by:

Cafe Brauer, Lincoln Park

“On the Wild Side” cake contest will have something for everyone.  Just as cakes are becoming bigger and brighter and wilder than ever we at CARBA offer the opportunity to broaden your horizons.  Whether you are a decorator or just an admirer of cake art, this will be an event you don’t want to miss.

Bronwen Weber is our Celebrity Cake Artist.  She will be judging the decorated tiered cakes and providing a demo creating a sculptured cake.  Bronwen has numerous awards and has competed and won several Food Network competitions.  Bronwen is a member of the Retail Bakers Association and International Cake Exploration Society.

“On the Wild Side” is free and will be open to the public from 10:00 am until 4:30 pm.  You will be able to witness the CARBA decorators in action as they compete to win a trip to Atlantic City to compete for the coveted Pillsbury Grand Champion.  On display will be the decorated cakes brought by over 50 Wild Inspired cake artists.  Local culinary schools are being invited to have their top cake artist compete in an on-site competition to decorate a 3-tier wedding cake before your very eyes.

To top that off is our evening event from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm.  Our Celebrity Cake Artist, Bronwen Weber, will be inspiring us as she sculpts her cake and shares fun facts from 5:00-6:30.  Drinks are available from 5-9; dinner will be served buffet style at 7:00.  Our awards ceremony will be at 6:30 – 7:00.  The evening event is $25.00 per person

Three different opportunities to compete!

  1. Bring a Decorated tiered cake: $50 entry fee
  2. CARBA: On-site decorating competition; winner goes to Atlantic City
  3. Students (sponsored by a culinary school) decorate a 3-tier wedding cake
